The Camaro is already at that weight but it will go through a weight reduction for the 6th gen alpha chassis next year, not a weight increase. Remember for a moment that the current car is based off a very robust full-size sedan chassis so the weight was already baked in from the start which the alpha will not present this problem for the new car.

I agree that a strong competent chassis will not be ultra lite weight unless more expensive materials are used but you can look at the ATS cars for a preview of the weight possibilities that the team is working with.
