I am known here as WildClay, a guy with the bad luck of picking a less than straight shooting dealership, who blindly went in and bought a 2010 2LT Aqua Blue Camaro and was told they would have it to me in 6-8 weeks on Apr 11, 2009. At about 6 weeks I called to find out how things were going with my order, they told me anytime now. Couple weeks later I called and started to wonder if something was going on when I had to remind them of the details of the car I ordered.
The sales manager said he would call me back with my status, never got that call and then could not get to him again. Went to GM Customer Care and found out they could do nothing without this thing called an Order Code or Workbench Order Code, and they had no way of looking up an order by anything else.
After another month or so of run around I went in to the dealer again for a face to face, got a nice test drive while they were looking up my status. I get back and the "computer" was down. No order code and no status...
Then I raised hell every place I could find, Customer Care, Troy Clarke, the Dealer, after enough calls they gave me an Order Code, the only problem was it did not lead to my car. I had just found this site and to date "The Viz" and members here have been more help than all the rest of GM combined.
Finally, today, I got a valid Order Number, the Viz gave me status of 3000 with a TPW of 9/7/09 (hope that holds), so I guess I am likely 2 months from getting the car unless it is side tracked by, what is it, 4D?
In any event this is the first time in 4 months I got some idea I would eventually get the car I ordered, The Viz was kind enough to give me all of the 3 character codes and my TPW, I then looked up all the codes and it matched my car down to the last option!
I feel, thanks to this site, that I know more about the GM production pipeline than 90% of GM employee's, something I really wish I did not have to learn.
My test message was because I added a signature and a picture of the car and wanted to see if it worked, so I tried to find an out of the way place to post a test message. I guess this is not as out of the way as I figured.
I have been driving GM cars for 25 years now, usually get a new one every 3-4 years and this is the first time I have had any issues with GM in any way. At least my order is in the pipeline now and I can come here and get status once in a while.
Bet you wish you had not asked "who" I was
