Looks almost like its an expansion/mod of Civ V. Could just be built off that engine though. Either way, I'll probably pass. I didn't really like the whole 'alien worlds' aspect of the game in II (never played I or III)

The only thing that I haven't liked about the games is the combat rules. I found it very annoying in II: the fate of your entire army depended on a single unit. For IV it wasn't so bad ... until somebody sent a superstack of a few dozen units your way. In V the '1 military & 1 civilian per tile' rule was somehow worse than fighting through superstacks: with a few ranged units & a couple horseman (or tanks, depending on era) and the cities were fairly easily captured.

One new feature that I think would be really cool for the next Civ game is an actual spherical globe. Toss in a few pentagons into the hex grid & you've got a Goldberg Polyhedron (wikipedia)
