With that said, you are saying that he should have kept to his own business? I'll grant you that calling the police might be a better option depending on what he wanted to do, but you suggested that he do nothing at all.
Oh, how does that famous phrase go? "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing"
At least this man took action. More than what you would do, given by your words so far.
So yes, I love the internet too. The hypocrisy is amazing, and the stupidity astounds me.

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." <--are you kidding me? Regarding seatbelt laws and child seats-it's an INFRACTION? I believe it's a $50 ticket in Missouri. So no, honestly- I don't think he should have taken the actions he took. Seriously- not a week goes by where I don't see an unrestrained child and my state has a $100 fine. And honestly, if I called a cop- do you think a cop would go out of his way to track down an infraction?
I don't 'love the internet'. I love the '
intent'. Honestly- the OPs heart was in the right place-I bet he's a great guy. He makes some great posts, but I believe he took a lot of big risks for this level of wrong doing. I never insulted the OP. I'm being honest- I asked a cop. I work with cops. The OP may have been accused of a larger crime than the lady committed. -no troll, that's honest to god truth.
And nice job turning it into an ad hominem. You don't know me- just because I wouldn't take action on this doesn't mean I wouldn't take action when it's warranted. This one was pretty low reward for the risk. If I had seen that mother put that cigarette out on the child I would have followed her, called the cops, chased her home- who knows what else.
Sorry to derail- I felt the need to defend myself.
