My guess for a worst case scenario would be that Ford has to sell off various product lines, but will stay intact in one form or another. Either way, it will be a number of years before they are a major contender again.

I agee with most of that, in fact I think I've read that they are considering selling Jaguar. Ford is still a major contender in my opinion, eventhough they were bumped out of the top three by Toyota. But the only real good news story is that Ford of Europe is doing really well.
I'm stationed in Germany right now and the Mondeo and Euro versions of the Focus are very popular. The Ford Ka and Fiesta are also driving around in huge numbers. I see them everywhere. Unfortunately those cars aren't as popular back in the states.
I have faith in Ford, and even though I am jumping ship to buy that Camaro when it comes out. I'm with IROC'em, I would rather have Ford around than race only ricers.
And the only other guy I can think of helping Ford is Shinoda with his Boss Shinoda Mustangs, but he isn't as popular as Saleen and Roush. Oh and Steeda is a huge aftermarket company for Mustangs and they produce a few tuned Mustangs themselves.
