Thats kinda sad. The first purpose of college is to give young adults the education they need to become educated professionals and succeed in life, football is just a fun add on, not the reverse.
It just bugs me seeing all the football players majoring in "interdisciplinary studies." That says to me "I'm majoring in Football. I just wanna play football coach. Why isn't there a Football major in the course schedule?"
One good injury and those kids are screwed for life at that rate...

actually at florida they have "family, youth and community sciences" which houses the rec majors. athletes and non-athletes are in this college. lots of athletes are also in "health and human performance". i was an adviser at UF for my college "journalism and communications" and corey brewer and other b-ball players from our back-to-back nat'l champ team were telecom and adv majors in my college. our j-school is one of the best in the country if that says anything about them.
i actually know more about uf academics than athletics. it's my current job to research all SEC schools for rankings, enrollments, test scores, etc so i know UF is a legit school even for the athletes. i agree to an extent what you are saying, but that's not the case for all of them.
