After everything I've read and after driving both the 911 Carrera S and Corvette extensively these are my thoughts:
(1) Corvette really does smoke the base 911 or the Carrera S. In order to beat out the Corvette you have to step up to the GTS or Turbo model which price out to about 140k and 180k respectively. I would rather have a 75k corvette and invest the other 75-100k but that's just me.
(2) Porsche guys will always be Porsche guys - and I think that's great - people should be loyal to their brands and the Porsche has a iconic design - i would even say it's a bit cleaner than the Corvette. I just couldn't pull the trigger on a 911 because the new C7 seats are freaking amazing. For anyone on the fence, just sit in both cars and tell me what you think. Also - I really did like the value of the C7. Yes I can afford a 90k car but that's not a reason to spend the extra money.
In the end it's a personal decision - people need to buy what makes them happy.
