If specific output is identical to the 2.7, I don't see why it wouldn't, simple math shows that the 2.9 should produce 350/400 with a tune similar the the 2.7's F150 tune. As for replacing 3.5? Probably not. More than likely we'll simply see different tunes used between the Ford vehicles and those from LMC. Just to further differentiate them from one another.
