Putting the dry sump LS3 into the 1LE would have required quite a bit of engineering. It's improvements, as with all past 1LE, were suspension related

Well that blew up in their face, didn't it? Still doesn't change the fact that GM doesn't put their best engines in the Camaro.
Dry sump engines are a recent development for GM cars, as far as I know. The 1LE should have gotten the dry sump LS3.
