Different strokes for different folks.
9mm hollow point rounds will stop any threat if the shots are placed on target. My dad was deployed as an MP with a Barreta 92FS that was 9mm and my uncle is a police officer and he carries a 40 S&W glock.
Seals continue to use the Sig P226 in 9mm.
I'll take much less recoil and more rounds over a slight increase in stopping power. That is also the only advantage. the wound cavity and internal balastics on two good self defense rounds in 9mm and 45 acp have negligible differences at best.
Again just my rational. As long as you train consistently and know how to shoot well, you are eons ahead of most people. Plus you carry everywhere you are legally allowed to, that is a huge component.
As a side note, I have a full sized .45 acp handgun for home defense. In a platform with many bullets, and a larger gun to more easily manage recoil I will take the advantages then. Not in an EDC platform.
