Here in NY, especially Long Island, when you get the ticket in the mail, there is a website that can be visited where you can see actual video footage of the acclaimed wrong doing. Makes it very hard to fight in traffic court. One of my biggest gripes is that the flash from these camera at night are so bright, it's only a matter of time before someone tried to sue because they were temporarily blinded by the flash and it caused them to get into an accident. The cameras here, if I'm not mistaken also look at the lines on the pavement. If your over the line you may received a ticket as well as you might be in the crosswalk or something to that effect. In Long Island where right turn on red is allowed, many people, including myself have received a summons because we did not come to a full stop at the light. Which to me, starts another problem. If we are allowed to make the turn, how do we know that when making said turn that we aren't going to get hit with the summons anyways. In a city where they don't have the video this would be very hard to prove. The count down is an excellent idea, however you know most people will speed up to make the light, or try to that point.
