So much focus on weight, you would think we would have learned by now that weight isn't the ultimate factor in performance outlook. I would have thought that the 4200-lb ZL1 had proven that theory a few years back. Look at what happened with the Z/28 75K with a focus on weight savings and the car is still is delivered over 3800 lbs.
Back in the day when performance was solely based on straight line speed weight savings could happen (example fox body mustangs), now there are much more demand and expectations on comfort and all around performance thus driving the weight up.
Bottom line whether the new GT gains a few pounds or not you can be certain it will perform very well.
