Chief engineer said their target weight loss goal was 200lbs. I can get the link if you like. While saying "our target weight loss goal is 200lbs" is not officially setting in stone that he said IT WILL BE 200LBS lighter it would just be a huge kick to the nuts with him saying that and it ends up 300lbs heavier. I don't think any educated person thought that the new Mustang would be lighter trim for trim after seeing the dimensions.

If the Mustang weights are true that would give GM a chance to really stick it to them.

I totally agree that it is now GM's battle to lose (if the rumor holds true)but I can promise you that if the new Mustang ended up at 3600lbs the new Camaro would be better than the Mustang ending up at 3900lbs.

We know exactly what parts are going to be in the new motor so at best it will have 444HP. A 24HP gain is not going to overcome 300lbs + heavier rotating mass items like wheels, tires ,brakes, IRS, ect. Trust me it could be a disaster as far as acceleration performance goes.
In all seriousness can you imagine if the rumor does hold true? It would be a huge black eye for Ford fans considering all the fat pig flak the Camaro gets from them. However, I am a little skeptical of the rumor. Yes it was released by Steeda but I'm wondering if it was on purpose so that the real weight gain of 100-150lbs doesn't seem so bad. I just don't see Ford crucifying themselves with a 300lb weight gain.
