Most serious drag racers will probably opt for the R/T and throw the remaining money into modifications.
An aggressive cam alone can easily make up most (if not all or more) of that 55bhp difference, especially in a engine with 5.7L of displacement, and cost far less than $10,000 to do so.
I still don't like throwing around "under $30,000." that is just marketing and perception. It is only $5 under the magic $30K before options, like the G8 used to be. I can't even get a meal at Burger King for under $5 anymore.
Sorry, but that just isn't something to really boast about.
