Fwiw the largest news empire in the world owns Fox News, which has the largest viewership of any of the 24/7 new outlets. They're very business friendly and pro-merican. Not sure your suspicions about why this is making the news holds water. It is, however, an often used talking point on the Fox News broadcasts that the media is "liberal" or somehow bent to implode reality.

The big difference I see is I never once heard anyone say "screw Toyota" they just kept buying them swearing they were the best thing since sliced bread. I hear about the evil GM empire daily...that, to me, is a direct reflection of the overall attitude of the media.
Oh, and I wasn't referring to fox news directly, mostly CNN, lol.
