If you're talking Hyundai, Kia, or a VW Jetta (those and other brands that probably shouldn't even be mentioned in this forum), I'd say absolutely yes. However, when you're talking about a Camaro ZL1, Corvettes, and other "sports" type cars, the "manual transmission" may surprisingly be the bigger draw for resale. No facts to back that up, but just looking at the C7s my dealer has pushed out the door the last couple of months and what stock is currently available (no 7 speeds left and 5 with automatic that have been around for a while), those with a 7 speed disappear quickly and those with an Automatic, tend to linger. Just a local observation. Oklahoma City is not known for heavy traffic (our rush hour is usually just that... 1 hour) and we have a lot of open road around to enjoy a 7 speed manual.
