cus they dont directly correlate with each other as they should. you have to remember, if gas stations are full up on their tanks then they wont benefit as much from the gas company lowering the price momentarily. cus by the time the gas station needs to refill its tanks, the price has leveled back out.

Now they are merging back together. Supposedly to cut costs, definitely to increase profits, probably not to benefit consumers (at least with $per gal).
