YEAR FoMoCo GM
2002 813,701 957,557
2003 845,586 985,729
2004 939,511 984,728
2005 901,463 1,006,420
2006 796,039 910,900
2007 690,589 890,017
2008 515,513 673,321
2009 413,625 447,241
2010 528,349 522,526
2011 584,917 586,424
2012 645,316 601,426
2013 763,402 683,301

So GM has sold more pickups than FoMoCo for 9 of the last 12 years and has sold more pickups in that time-frame by a margin of 811,579.

Ford has been doing very well lately but lets not forget who dominates the US market in totality.
Are the Avalanche and Escalade EXT considered pick ups or SUVs, if you include those as pick ups then I guess you are right on a technicallity but not right in F-Series vs Silverado/Sierra

Occasionally they do, not always. If you want to call it a win for ford on a technicality go ahead, Silverado nor Sierra has ever outsold F series on their own in the last 30+ years. GM has split their trucks into 2 divisions so they are technically different models. there fore Ford is correct in their marketing bc they are going by nameplate. If GM combined outsells Ford next year GM can say they have best selling trucks, but Chevy can't and GMC can't but Ford still could, see where you can call it a technicality?

I'm really just curious here, never looked into owning a truck & don't ever expect to.

Norm
Here are the last 4 years of US Truck sales from good car bad car F-Series Vs Silverado vs Sierra

if someone wants to double check my math go ahead

FORD
2013 763,402
2012 645,316
2011 584,917
2010 528,497

Chevy GMC TOTAL
2013 480,414 184,387 664,801
2012 418,312 157,185 575,497
2011 415,130 149,170 564,300
2010 370,135 129,794 499,929

Now, someone correct me if I am wrong but I believe that

763,402 is greater than 664,801 ?
645,316 is greater than 575,597
584,917 is greater than 564,300
528,497 is greater than 499,929

So the last 4 years Ford has outsold GM combined in F-series vs Silverado/Sierra. IIRC GM outsold ford in like 02-09 I know there were years were GM was ahead of Ford but in the last few years Ford has really pulled ahead

Also here is the YTD sales so far

FORD
173,358

chevy/GMC
149,970

It really comes down to technicalities. Some years yes GM's two brands outsell Ford, other years tehy don't. But Ford is not incorrect when they say that F-series has been best selling bc technically Silverado and Sierra are different name plates
