While I agree with the ever-increasing need for security, I have thorough concerns with the conspiracy theory your proposed. It's unsettling to think that we have a corrupt administration, but it's fairly clear at this point after the last pair of elections that Bush is not even a good Republican, and 2 out of 3 Americans totally disapprove of his actions to date. Basically, he's a miserable president in comparison to the so many adequate or great presidents in history. At the same time, I'm absolutely certain that Bush does not intend to endanger Americans deliberately. In other words, he wouldn't let bin Laden escape if he knew where to find him. Besides, finding bin Laden would restore faith in his administration. In other words, bin Laden may be trained by Americans to fight the Russians, but he isn't being helped anymore.
EDIT: I understand that this post is controversial. As a moderate political science student, I intend to only bring facts and critical input to the debate. I understand that loyal Republicans do not appreciate criticism when it comes to the top office. I do not intend to verbally assault the Republican Party or it's members as a whole, just George W. Bush's record.
