I like action movies in general, and I've been disappointed for some time that there aren't many franchises of popular racing movies. Every shoot-em-up film features some sort of police chase, heist, or other illegal activity, but for some reason simple street racing is not featured in Hollywood. :( No one should be street racing. That being said, I'd like to see more of it in a choreographed environment. Track races on the big screen feel more like drama—filled with emotional moments—than action—filled with gratuitous explosions and energy. I want more explosions, and I want more custom cars on the big screen.

I liked the movie. Keep in mind, if you're unfamiliar with any games in the series, that the vehicles featured attempt to represent the upper end of cars in the games. It would be preposterous to set up a story line where the main character has to work his way up a ladder, earning cars and "street cred" along the way. That sounds more like a TV show, and it won't get viewers.

The key when watching this movie is that we're not watching a classic, cult film, epic, or major award winner. We're watching an action movie centered around pretty cars and stunt driving. The stunts aren't as impressive as Fast & Furious films, but it's good to see another entry into racing films that takes racing off the track and has enough budget to make it interesting. With any hope, Need For Speed develops a franchise based on its games and feature cars from various countries and race types.
