Besides, they are working on new ways of getting oil. One way my college was researching was extracting oil from seaweed. Basic concept behind it was that in the gulf coast the oil there is 5,000 year old seaweed. They're working on eliminating the 5,000 year decay process and get the oil now. It is a brilliant idea because they don't need special engines to run it and the seaweed was somewhere around 60% recovery verses the 4% recovery of ethanol. Problem solved, oil forever!
