Oh yes, Cali is quite a paradise....

Proposition 30 income tax, and even though taxes are up, state revenue is down, it's about the worst place for a new business to start, highest(?) sales tax in the US, or if not its right up there at #2 or 3, either the worst or tied for worst regarding gas tax in the nation, very high unemployment, state employee pay has doubled in ten years but you pay for that with your taxes, crime is up while population is down due to people moving away, public schools rank very low in reading and math compared to the rest of the nation, the state is run like a bad lemonade stand, tort reform almost laughs at Cali's "progress" re: the judicial system there, electricity on average costs almost 30 percent more than the national average, you have the 'ring of fire' earthquake thing....


...but yes, in a lot of places in California, it doesn't get very cold.
