I read the article, and the Shelby GT500, pulled a 12.6 @ 114.2 versus the Challenger SRT-8s 13.1 @108.3 mph. On a strip this is a full half second! A half of second faster at the 1/4 mile at speeds of over 100mph is about five car lengths, that is a big deal not just "tenths". Not to mention that out trapping a car by 6 mph on the big end is equally huge.
Furthermore in the handling department, the GT500 out pulled the SRT-8 on the skid pad by 0.2 Gs and out manuevered the SRT-8 in the MT figure eight by half a second and also 0.2 Gs.....that may not seem like much, but remember the GT500 managed to do this on a solid live axle against the SRT-8s supposedly more modern and refined IRS.
As for warranty....the article shows the Challenger with a 3yr/36,000 mile warranty and the GT500 with a 5yr/60,000 mile warranty, though the Challenger does have an unlimited powertrain warranty....
Also the GT500 gets 14/20 mpg vs. the SRT-8s 13/18 mpg, and the GT500 gives off less emissions 1.20lbs of C02/mile vs. 1.31.
It looks to me like you are getting your moneys worth for the GT500 over the Challenger SRT-8 if you go along with this article.

My bad on the warranty and mpg...apparently dyslexia can develop at any time....just looking at them backwards....that's what I get for doing this while working at the same time.....I should probably get my priorities straight and dump the workload for awhile so I can write better posts on the forums.
I don't give a damn about the actual times/speeds....yes, you are right, the GT is quicker (I think I said that in my other post), but not "quicker enough". Come on, what, 250lbs less and 75HP more and that's it?
This still relates to the original post....the Challenger is faster than that video shows and we all know a GT is far less of a car than the GT500. There is no way that a stock GT will blow the doors off of a Challenger. Just not going to happen.
