Are you running wireless to your Xbox or hard wired? If wireless you could always try and get a cheap looooong cable from monoprice and see if that makes a difference for ya. It made a BIG difference for me(especially in FPS)..... If I am playing a online game I shut down the wireless and run it hard wired.
EDIT: Not sure if that makes sense or not....
To be more specific I completely eliminate my wireless router from the equitation. I run the cable from the wall to my modem and straight to the xbox.
