There are many ways you can do it. If you also have a speed bag that's a good option but not necessary. I typically use the speed bad for warm up/recovery followed by all out beat the crap out of the bag then speed bag and repeat. You can also do variations such as using light jabs and straight punches for rest intervals and heavy hitting hooks for intensity and repeat. HIIT is basically light work for recovery and all out intensity for work sets so you can be creative such as light jump roping, elliptical, stationary bike or any easy cardio for your rest intervals then hit the heavy bag fast and hard for the work intervals.
