Though i do agree with you that some people do go a bit too far when on their bikes, i almost made a guy a stain the other day while driving home cause he passed me on a two lane street in my lane. Had i not been paying special attention to him (bro, sis and a few good friends all ride) someone would've been smeared across the road. No helmet and just a wife beater and board shorts.

This is my biggest pet peeve about people who ride bikes.
GET THE GEAR FOR THE MACHINE! A helmet is legally required in Saskatchewan, so you don't see no helmet very often, but man does it piss me off seeing guys wearing t shirts and shorts when they ride a bike.
You already DON'T have seatbelts or airbags, and now if you dump your bike, you are going to basically slide over a hot asphalt cheese grater for a couple hundred feet if something goes wrong. Get a riding jacket and at least wear some jeans. It's your choice I guess, but man, are you ever going to go through a lot of pain and suffering if something bad happens.
I never thought of this much before, but last year in my city, a man riding a bike was struck by a large moving van and dragged under it for 7 or 8 BLOCKS until he could free himself and get out from under it. He escaped with no injuries because he had a riding jacket AND riding pants. It showed video of it on the local news and those plastic plates were almost completely rubbed through. They looked clear in some areas, they were so worn down.
If this guy hadn't been wearing that stuff, it probably would have been his
muscles that were worn through, down to his
bones.
JMVHO, and end rant.
