Perhaps. It may also be a case that they (GM) wants to make sure they have every thing right before they roll out a new model. You could also say that seeing what others are doing you can avoid the mistakes and improve on the strong points.
Some times being late to a party can be a good thing.....you can make sure you`re not wearing the same dress as someone else is at the party.
