For the first time in 30 some years of playing hard, I was injured and broke my wrist off duty. Department will not let me back to work, dragging ass while left cutting through red tape. Both my orthopaedist and department doc cleared me to wwork though. Funny thing is 4 months ago, broke pinky on same hand while on duty and dept. put me on restricted (light duty). This injury occured while playing for the department softball team.

Question is...Is there a decent, respectable insurance company that covers off the job injuries AND if you DO NOT use it, you get a major portion back? I can not see spending $50 a month as a pseudo investment for 10-15 or 20 years and not having anything to show for it.

I have plenty of sick time I am burning right now and a vacation starting the 6th, and can not recover the 120 hours I will burn.

Just a query as I have never delved into anything of this nature.
