On paper the PS4 is a more powerful console, it's mostly its graphics card that beats the XB1, and the type of memory it uses (GDDR5 for system memory versus XB1's DDR3)
Having said that, some 3rd party games (BF4 comes to mind) run at a higher resolution on the PS4, however you're probably not going to notice the difference, unless you have the systems side by side.
Realistically, in my opinion, it's going to be like the last gen console wars, PS3 was technically more powerful, but the differences were very minor. Not enough to warrant going with either one based on visuals alone.
If you like the XB1's controller and just want to play the latest games, I'd open up that Day One and have some fun.
Titanfall is one XB1 exclusive that is going to epic and it comes out in a month. Forza 5 and Deadrising 3 are also exclusives to the XB1 and both are very fun.
I'm having the most fun with Battlefield 4 & Assassin's Creed: Black Flag at the moment.
