I'm thinking that the Colorado should be able to do about as much as a V6 Silverado, just in a smaller package. Towing will be a bit better with the small truck (6700 lbs vs up to 6400), but payload might be a touch worse (all GM has said is it will be 'best in class' but that only means 1400 lbs+, the minimum for the Silverado is a touch under 1900).

So it would be cheaper (based on where the Silverado starts, and where the Tacoma & Frontier are), more efficient (even if it is just 1 or 2 mpg), and roughly as capable as a V6 Silverado ... thats not a bad deal.
