I'm in NH, although I don't think there is a shortage up here. Propane is expensive these days though, I've cut way back in using it. If your parents aren't already taking measures to conserve, let them know what I have done. I only use cold water to do laundry, my windows suck, so I put plastic insulator kits on all the windows and sliding glass doors, I primarily use ceramic electric space heaters to heat my house. They are safer than the old style metal coil heaters and do a great job. Also use a humidifier, but don't let the relative humidity in the home go past 50%, that's when mold starts to grow. Never thought I'd see the day that electricity is a cheaper way to heat my house than propane. One other measure that I'm thinking of employing is some sort of timer on the hot water tank zone of my system. There's no need for it to keep the water hot all day long while I'm at work, I want to somehow only let it heat it up in the mornings before I take a shower and at night when I get home.
