I'm hearing more defensive posturing than hating.

To say Ecoboost is a game changer when it is no more than a DI Turbo is a bit strong. If you want to say putting smaller displacement DI Turbo engines in PU trucks is a game changer we can have that discussion.

Although many will believe the Ford hype it is at a basic level the technology GM got to production first. Widespread application of smaller displacement DI turbos goes very much to Ford.

Also I have heard that the Ecoboost in the current Ford F150 doesn't pass some of the industry towing tests in the heat. Not saying it's common but there are heat problems in very severe towing conditions.

I have no hate for the DI turbo engine. Loved it in my Saturn and love it in our ATS. Awesome engines. All Ford has done is go smaller displacement and far more widespread application in Fusion and even Fiesta.
