The ecoboost is rated at 16/22 in a 2wd, the 6.2 is rated at 13/18 in a 2wd. Thats the way Ford chose to about it, they went the turbo small engine route.

GMs new 5.3 is pretty impressive as well, giving very good MPG and still offering very impressive towing figures.

It's just my opinion, but if your towing something right at the max for either the GM or Ford often, you should be looking at a heavy duty

I couldn't agree more. People keep asking more and more of 1/2 ton trucks when the HD's and Superduty's are right there to do that very task. This explains why these truck have gotten so huge as well. We'd have better FE and performance if they weren't so big.
