I wouldn't compare it to what you can buy used. That can be said for pretty much any car. I wouldn't say it's overpriced either, starting at $44k. This car is in a 400+ hp RWD non luxury sedan class. Has anyone really looked to see how many cars are in that category? Last time I checked only 3:
Chrysler 300 SRT8
470 hp
$48,900
Hyundai Genesis R-Spec
429hp
$48,320
SRT Charger
470hp
$47,475
I think the SS will hold its value pretty good. Just look at the prices of the automatic Pontiac G8 GXP's and see how much they still go for. The SS will be a 2 year tops model, and the last of Aussie made Holdens brought to the U.S.
On a side note, do AWD cars really sell a lot where you live? Here in TN we MIGHT get 1-2 inches of snow for the whole winter, and that quickly melts by the next day. Our need for AWD cars is not as great as the Northern and Eastern states. Is Subaru a top seller?
The problem with this is all of those car look good, the SS doesn't IMO. I think the SS should be in the 36-38K range, that would make it much more appealing.
