I know you mentioned Jewlery but I get my wife a gift from Tiffany's and when she gets that little turquoise box she is always overwhelmed. I've been at it for a few years and have given her the collection of a couple different lines.
But, when I was younger with little kids one of the things I did was get a collage of pictures done in one of those frames with all the different little pictures in them. It may not seem like an extravagant gift now but I can tell you after the kids grow up and move away she will still enjoy those pictures every day. It'll be a home run gift that will pay back for decades.
