Another example is the TSA checkpoints at the airport. Do you really believe they are there to catch 'terrorists'? I think, in part, these checkpoints exist to get people used to being searched, conditioned to accept loss of freedom and increased governmental control ... just a little bit at a time.

Yes, but the TSA checkpoints were created after the 9/11 attacks because I'm sure a lot of people don't mind giving up a little bit of their rights so they have an opportunity to live a little longer. IBTL
