I don't think there's much argument that the 1LE is the better road course car straight off the production line. Unfortunately for the purposes of comparison, there really isn't any standardized entry-level road course competition or even a consistent yardstick for making corner-carving comparisons like there is for drag racing, so there's neither a clear way nor a large enough sample size to establish by how much.

I agree with you, and out at least to the extent of holding the comparisons involving modifications down to a reasonably street-legal level. Overall, a car that's fun half a dozen times a year because you can't license it for road use or get it through inspection can end up being less fun than if the modding was stopped at a more moderate point that would enable it to be at least usable in daily driving.

I've been helmet hunting and also talking my G8 buddy through some mods and talking smack about the new Mustang all at the same time the past couple of days. My wife isn't going to be able to deal with me pretty soon. lol

Listen in the long run we all gotta remember that the better the other side gets the better our side will get. It's a win, win for all of us.
Check out SafeRacer.com for helmets and other safety gear . . . and consumables such as brake pads and even GoPro video cameras.

About getting bitten by the bug on this . . . it's been snowing here in NJ long enough for 5 or 6 inches to have accumulated, and I'm spending more time trying to decide which tires to run on for a track day next Saturday than I am in working up the ambition to shovel out. My wife doesn't track or autocross, but the track days are becoming the reason for us to get in a getaway weekend.
