My general rule of thumb for celebrity news (regardless of what makes them famous in the first place) is this: if I myself did it, would it still be news worthy? If not, how is it news when someone else does? On top of that, why should I care when they aren't part of my life. In this case, Rob Ford is not my mayor. He's not a friend of mine, or a family member. I don't work for or with him and neither does anyone that I know. What he says & does has very little impact on my life, so I'm not overly interested in what he says or does.

If I lived in Toronto, then I'd be very interested and would probably be demanding that he resign. But to me, he's just a guy who has substance abuse issues and should seek help. I've known others like that and they don't show up in tabloids around the world, or the butt of jokes on late night TV, or in the off-topic section of car forums.
