I've been a CTO for 8 plus years, I have a team of over 35 IT members from admins to analysts to programmers, and the pay for new hires is down 1/3 from what it was 2 years ago, and we are a $1+ billion a year company with over 1,500 retail outlets and a 40% online business penetration in our market.

Not trying to bring you down, but realistically you may find it harder to find employment than you think.. I watch the open positions quite regularly the market is not a open as you might think.

Depends where you're at, here outside of Chicago we have a sub 2% unemployment rate for his line of work, hell it took us 6 months to get a worthwhile associate engineer lined up. Though we're a much larger company and a bit picky about new hires.
