I'll show you a a sh** load of cars with no orange peel for under $20,000 and good luck with that clay on a clear-coat finish
Remember - if it's not happening to you, that does not mean it does not exist.
To reiterate, I would already own a G8 GT if the Camaro wasn't coming.
I understand you wanting to defend your recent purchase. I want all these vehicles to be the best they can be and honest feedback will help with future improvements.

I don't need to google it. I go to multiple times
www.g8board.com every day. I know about every issue that people are having with their G8s and I've had a few as well. One that you didn't mention is a popping sound in the front right suspension. So far, no diagnosis on that one.
I just want to be clear, I'm not here to argue with anyone about whether this car is good or not. I love it, it's the best car I've ever owned (including my Z28). There are always minor issues with cars, especially first year models. My thought is this: do I really care about a flimsy glove box? No. Do I really care about ridiculously minor things? No. If I had major problems, or if ANYONE had major problems I would be concerned.
GM hit a home run with this vehicle and I see it as a huge step in the right direction for them. I can only hope that the Camaro is a grand slam. I would love to see GM take back the #1 seed, and I think they are well on their way to doing it. With the G8, the rave reviews of the 5th gen, the new Cadillac lineup, and the Acadia/Outlook/Enclave/Traverse I think they've done it.
Bravo to GM for making an amazing car for an amazing price.
To respond to your post...only the seat BACK has the annoying manual adjuster, all other adjustments are electronic and easy to manipulate...there's nothing wrong with clay bars on a clear coat finish if it is done properly...and I too wanted to wait for the Camaro but decided I needed to replace my truck sooner rather than later and wanted the convenience of 4 doors since I have kids.
I'm not here to argue, I'm just saying...don't knock it 'till you try it.
