It takes dispatch two days to find and assign a hauler. This amount of time is very consistent and across the board, does not matter if going by truck or train, at each step (such as traveling by train across the country, once off the train two days for assignment. I am unaware of any instance of less time. Once assigned to a hauler, it can take from a day to ten to actually move to the dealers.
Corvettes travel by truck hauler. There are reports of plans to use rail road auto cars which will add time for transportation, lots of time. Two days then on a truck to the rail yard, off the truck then two days to get on an auto car, auto car goes without logic and an auto car may stay at a rail yard for several days not moving. Once at the last rail yard, another two days for a truck assignment. A four or five day trip by truck can easily become a four or five week trip if rail is used.
You have likely guessed how positive a feel toward using rail to transport Corvettes to the dealerships.
