Are the red calipers factory or dealer installed? And if they are from the dealer, are they new calipers getting swapped in or are they repainting yours for you? If its the last one, the price seems fairly reasonable given whats involved.

But I always like the idea of More grip. The Zl1 I just bought have unbelievable tires and rims, I wonder if it is possible to order the ZL1 tires and swap them over? problem solved??. Hopefully there are no other unpleasant suprises.

You both realize that the base C6 also had 245s up front and 285s out back, right? And before that, they were 245s and 275s for the C5. Plus, I'm pretty sure that oversteer is a much bigger problem for Corvettes than understeer is, which means that the rear tires lose grip before the fronts do. Bigger front tires won't fix that.
If you want more tire, wait for the eventual Z06 (or perhaps Z07) and ZR1.
*edit*
I also wouldn't call $300+ Pilot Sports 'cheap', they're not crazy expensive but definitely not cheap.
