Orders can get picked and move from 2000 to 2500 to 3000 in just a few days. The timing you desribe indicates the order was entered on a Tuesday against a current allocation thus got to 2000 in a matter of minutes instead of a matter of a few days.
The Canadian ordering system is enough different from the US that I admit I do not understand just how it works. But in the end, it is a matter of trust. I think he understands that if he could order through a USA based ealer he might get his order built quicker, but as he stated he has to go through a Canadian dealer.
