Unfortunately that is the case. Most people out there are either under the influence of the 80's when American cars weren't that great, or they are being told by those people: "oh this car will hold its value better, or oh this will keep my daughter safer...etc.". I was just told last week by some 45 year old woman that I work with that she's going to buy her daughter a Toyota because the airbags are better and will keep her safer. My good friends bought their new Toyota
ONLY "because it holds it's value better" (they hit a deer with the last Toyota they had, I'm sure the impound said, "A Toyota, well, that's a different story here's 1000 more dollars")
To top my story off - My own Mother believes that ALL American automakers will be Dead within 20 years. (sigh) I don't know why people would want to believe that foreign cars are higher in quality than ours, I don't think I ever will

. Don't get me wrong though, if a Toyota feeds your needs then by all means get one, but not because it's "airbags are better"....:o
I am a perfect example of the Camaro Ethnicity debate. I am 50% Italian Stallion, and 50% mutt. I ignore the "mutt" part, and tell everyone who asks that I'm Italian. I was also born in a different state, but I consider myself a New York-er. The Camaro will be roughly 74% American parts, and will be "born" in Canada. I DON'T CARE...this I consider this car to be 100% American, just like I consider myself 100% Italian.
