I stayed away from this thread untill today, because I had a feeling where it would be headed. For all those that gave support or said thank you, it is very much appreciated. Those words are so rare, that after all the years I have been a cop, I still don't know how to handle them.

For those that dislike us, no biggie, you will not offend me or hurt my feelings. However, just understand that untill you have seen what we have seen, dealt with the things that we have dealt with you will never understand us. Just like every other profession there is good and bad. The bad will always stand out over the good just the way it goes. I could write a book trying to explain what I do, why I do what I do, the things that I have seen, and the nights that I get to go home being lucky to get to hold my kids again. For those that hate us or just don't get us, know one thing, my goal when I start my shift is to go back home to my family.

I will not ask you for your respect or to have sympathy for what I do, I chose my profession and the good and bad that comes with it. I have asphalt in my blood and will untill I die. I try to treat everyone the way I want a family member to be treated.

Now to the degree, no offense to anyone else, but I say get your degree in anything else but CJ. You will learn what you need to know in the academy, but you will want something to fall back on, if you realize you don't like being a cop, or you get hurt to the point that you can't be a cop.

Automatic Tickets: No Drivers License, No Insurance, Unrestrained Children, and driving without regard for the saftey of other people on the road. I'm not perfect and I don't expect everyone else to be either.
