Meanwhile, this mythical 650 hp TT V8 would only be making 12 hp more than the 'obsolete' LS9 already makes. Something tells me, GM has better things to spend their money on, such as gen V derived LS9 sucessor.

Some thoughts. First I don't believe the next Z06 or Z07 necessarily needs to trump the current C6 ZR1 in terms of power output. Many thought the same regarding the base C7 and the C6Z06. Speculators pointed to the fact that, historically, the Base C6 was on par with a C5Z06 in terms of power (400hp vs 405hp), yet the new Stingray is still at least 45hp short of the C6Z06.
Furthermore, it took 7 years after production ended on the C4ZR1 in 1995 for Corvette to match that power level in the 2002 C5Z06 (2001 C5Z06s had 385hp).
So I wouldn't be too surprised or disappointed if the C7 Z06(7) makes
only 575-600hp regardless of the motor that ends up in it.
Also, as fitting as it is for the Z06 to remain naturally aspirated... N/A engines are slowly going the way of the dodo I fear.
