Right but a PS3 is technically not a PC. From my experience a gaming console doesn't need a cross over cable.
I connected my Xbox with a standard patch cable from the Ethernet port on my laptop (created a network bridge from my wireless card) and had no issues and it connected to the Internet.
Edit: I actually made the cable so I know it was not a cross cable. It went OW-O-GW-B-BW-G-BW-B on both ends
