Apparently he is not allowed to connect a router or switch in his room. I'm thinking if there can be no switch and router you take the main connection plug it into your laptop NIC card and then take the USB adapter and plug it into your PS3. Once that is done if windows registers the USB adapter as a network device in the settings you can bridge the connection from the NIC card to the USB adapter.
