Nausea among crew members was common. The thing would knock people over just by running the engine. You could hear it 20 miles away when it was on the ground. The thing could screw up equipment in the control tower by its vibration.

I am sure it's not as loud as the XF-84H but have you ever heard a gulfstream III use full reversers? In my year and a half working at the airport I never heard any thing louder than those GIII's. Even with the "hush" kits they were louder than 98% of the other aircraft we had coming in.
As for cars I think it's really tough but I do love a cammed V8 sound but will still take the high revving 4.0l V8 in the current M3. God that motor sounds wonderful.
