Comes down to money and cost...if they source the I6 from BMW for a fraction of the development costs for them to do it. Then I say go for it. Means the car could be more affordable for the consumer. If they did it themselves they would have to go with a V6 instead probably start with a Camry engine and go from there like Nissan did with the GTR.
